Mackenzie Wahpehpah-Harris (Kickapoo) Wins 3K at OBU Invitational Earns Bid to NAIA Indoor Championships

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma City University added to its national-meet qualifiers in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational on Saturday at the Mosier Indoor Track & Field Facility.
The Stars’ Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe) and Kyle Wardwell finished first and second place in the 3,000 meters, while Sara Moore posted a school-record time in the 1,000 as each gained automatic berths into the NAIA Indoor Championships.

Hunter Swink of OCU won the 800 meters to gain provisional qualifying status in the event. The national meet happens March 5-7 in Geneva, Ohio.
Wahpehpah-Harris, a sophomore from Norman, Okla., completed the 3,000 meters in 8 minutes, 33.04 seconds to win the event. Wardwell, a junior from Norman, Okla., finished a tight second with an 8:33.51.
