Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe) Finishes 12th Overall at Fort Hays State Tiger Open

HAYS, Kan. – Oklahoma City University took third place with 125 points Saturday in the Fort Hays State Tiger Open at Sand Plum Nature Trail.
Arya Bahreini, a senior from Edmond, Okla., led the Stars with a fifth-place finish and a time of 24 minutes, 13.2 seconds.
Adams State (Colo.), ranked fourth in NCAA Division II men’s cross country, won with 70 points, while Western State (Colo.) trailed by only four points. The Stars, ranked 19th in the NAIA, raced in the gold division, which included seven top 25-ranked NCAA Division II teams.
Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris, (Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma), took 12th place with a time of 24:53.4, while David Mountford, a junior from Shotton, Wales, finished in 18th for a time of 25:04.7 for OCU.
Michael Vercoe-Curtis, a sophomore from Kelston, Auckland, New Zealand, placed 41st with a time of 25:36.9. Reno Blum, a senior from Tahlequah, Okla., crossed the finish in 26:05.6. The next Star to finish was Jonathon Falcon, a freshman from Katy, Texas, at the 26:29.6 mark.
Erick Meza, a freshman from Midlothian, Ill., crossed at 26:54.2. Chris Ebert, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., had a time of 27:24.7, while Lucas Harrington, a freshman from Columbia, Mo., finished 145th for a time of 27:50.5.
Runners faced temperatures of 64 degrees with a 15 mph wind.
The Stars return to action on Oct. 24 in the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
