Maria Moore (Dakota/Lakota/Gros Ventre) Signs with Ottawa University in Kansas to continue basketball career

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women’s basketball program is pleased to announce the signing of Maria Moore for the 2022-23 season. She is from Mandan, N.D., and is a transfer from Dakota College of Bottineau. Moore attended Mandan High School.

In her two years at Dakota College of Bottineau, she played in 56 games and made 53 starts. She averaged 14.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game for the Lady Jacks. As a sophomore, Moore was named 2021-22 NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American, First Team All-Mon-Dak Conference, MVP All-Region. She averaged 15.2 points per game and shot 35 percent from the floor. In her freshman season, Moore earned Second Team All-Mon-Dak Conference honors and was named to the All-Region team. She averaged 13.2 points per game and shot 33.6 percent from the floor.

At Mandan High School, Moore lettered in basketball, soccer, cross country, and track.

She is the daughter of Ray Moore, Sr., and Cynthia Monteal and plans to major in biology.
