Marshall Freshman Stormy Randazzo (Seminole/Creek) finishes first two rounds even in river landing classic

Day One Results and Pairings

WALLACE, N.C. – Freshman Stormy Randazzo (Seminole/Creek) led the Marshall women’s golf team to a spot in fourth place after two rounds of the River Landing Classic on Monday.

“I am so proud of the way we played today,” head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. “To have two players shoot under par makes it even better. These girls are a lot of fun to watch when all five of them are playing the way they know how to. We need to have the same mindset tomorrow to finish off a great tournament with some well known teams.”

Randazzo finished the day with an even-for-par 144 that was highlighted by her finishing round one with a 3-under 69. As it stands after day one, the freshman is in a tie for fifth place. Randazzo’s strong day was helped by her finishing the day 1-under on par 3s and 1-under on par 5s. During round two, the freshman birdied on two of the last three holes.

Sophomore Shelby Brauckmuller was the other Marshall player to post an under-par round, as she finished the second round with a 1-under 71. The sophomore was even throughout the second round with the exception of a birdie on hole five. As it stands Brauckmuller and junior Ylva Forslund are in a tie for 20th after posting scores of 4-over 148.

Individually, Campbell’s Ayelen Irizar leads the field with a 3-under 141, while Memphis’ Madison Thomas trails with by just one stroke. On the team side, Campbell leads Memphis by eight strokes with a 4-under 572.
