by Burnsville, Minn. — Minnesota State’s Katie Taylor (Ojibwe) has been named the NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks after her showing in the SDSU Division II open.
A senior from Hayward, Wis., Taylor won the shot put with a NCAA provisional throw of 48-2.5 (14.69m), which ranks second in the NSIC and seventh best in NCAA DII this season. Taylor also placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 63-7.75 (19.4m). Taylor owns the top mark in the weight throw in DII this season (65-8.75/20.03m – Chuck Petersen Open – 12/4/21).
This is the third time this season that Taylor has garnered this award.
