RAPID CITY, S.D. – On Thursday evening, the South Dakota Mines women’s basketball team took on the Cougars of Colorado Christian, looking to get into the win column.
After a great start and a great first half, the Hardrockers ended up where they wanted, with a 66-56 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
South Dakota Mines got off to a quick start, going up 12-4 and scoring 23 points in the first quarter to take a seven-point lead into the second.
The Hardrockers’ offense continued to hum in the second, getting a layup from Morning Grace Spotted Bear and a Miquedah Taliman three to take a 12-point, 28-16 advantage.
Before CCU scored again, the Hardrockers held a nearly 20-point advantage after two more baskets from that same duo of Spotted Bear and Taliman, expanding the lead to 35-16.
SDM would continue to expand the lead into the half with a 50-27 advantage.
CCU fought back in the second half, but South Dakota Mines was too much on this night, winning 66-56.

Piper Bauer led the team in scoring with 22 points on 6-11 three-point shooting…Bauer added four steals and four assists…Miquedah Taliman scored 18, adding seven rebounds…Morning Grace Spotted Bear posted another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, adding six assists.
