ABILENE — The ACU women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to nine games with a commanding 87-40 victory over Nelson University this afternoon at Moody Coliseum. The Wildcats showcased were able to dominate on both ends of the court in their final non-conference matchup before WAC play.
ACU set the tone early, racing to a 25-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Bella Earle led the offensive charge with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists, while Natalia Chavez added 17 points, including three from beyond the arc. Emma Troxell also delivered a standout performance with 14 points and six rebounds.
The Wildcats shot 43.8% from the field, holding Nelson to just 25.0% shooting. A decisive 18-0 run in the second quarter effectively put the game out of reach as ACU extended its lead to 47-20 by halftime.
Defensively, the Wildcats were relentless, forcing Nelson into 26 turnovers and converting those into 31 points. ACU’s dominance in the paint was evident, outscoring Nelson 52-8 and grabbing 27 second-chance points off 19 offensive rebounds.
