Native American Athletes in the 2023 NCAA Men’s and Women’s March Madness Basketball Tournaments

The NCAA announced the 64-team field for the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division 1 Tournament on the ESPN Selection Show this past weekend.

The 2023 women’s championship will be the second to have 68 teams. First Four games will be played March 15-16, at four of the top-16 host sites. First- and second-round games will be played March 17-20, on the campuses of the top-16 seeds. 

The 2023 Women’s Final Four will be played March 31 and April 2 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The 2023 men’s NCAA tournament for March Madness starts with First Four games in Dayton, Ohio and continues through to the 2023 Final Four in Houston.

Below are the athletes that will be competing with their respective teams. Follow the NCAA.com for times and dates of their opening round games:

MEN

Raequan Battle (Tulalip Tribe will be the lone Native American athlete on the men’s side in the March Madness tournament. Originally a signee with the Washington Huskies, Battle transferred to Montana State and established himself as the top player in the Big Sky Conference. The Bobcats open their tournament action with Kansas State out of the Big 12 Conference.
