Native Athletes in the 2022 March Madness Tournament and other Post Season Tournaments

Four months ago, college basketball teams all across the country began their quest for a conference championship and then for one of the most sought after spots, a spot in the NCAA March Madness tournament and other post-season tournaments, such as the NIT, WNIT or CBI.

For Indian Country, the representation on the some of the nations best college basketball programs continues to grow and this year will be no different.

Below are a list of Native American players who will be participating in the various March Madness tournament as well as some players who will be playing in other post season tournaments such as the NIT or WNIT.

Women:

  • Summer Hemphill (Seneca) – University of Buffalo – NCAA March Madness
  • Kola Bad Bear (Crow) – Montana State University – NCAA March Madness
  • Kelbie Washington (Choctaw) – University of Oklahoma – NCAA March Madness
  • Brice Calip (Mvskoke Creek) – Missouri State University – NCAA March Madness
  • Aspen Williston (Choctaw) – University of South Dakota – NCAA March Madness
  • Milan Schimmel (Umatilla) – Florida Gulf Coast University – NCAA March Madness
  • Hailey Oskey (Oneida) – University of Wisconsin-Green Bay – WNIT

MEN:

  • David Wingett (Winnebago) – South Dakota State University – NCAA March Madness
  • RaeQuan Battle (Tulalip) – Montana State University – NCAA March Madness
