TULSA, OKLA- NBC GOLF Analyst Notah Begay (Navajo) joined Tyler Jones (Choctaw) on this week’s episode of ‘The Jones Report’ podcast, with a breakdown of the 2022 PGA Championship from Southern Hills Country Club.
Begay shared his insights and memories about Tiger Woods. Begay also discussed Rickie Fowler’s (Navajo) chances of winning the event and the docuseries they produced together, ‘Basketball or Nothing.’

Begay on Southern Hills:
“The scene in Tulsa is awesome. What a classic golf course, one of the older designs and has had some renovations done over the last few years to upgrade to modern standards. It is going to be a great week. It is going to be tough and the course is going to be quite a test.”
Begay on Tiger Woods:
“Him being out here isn’t an accomplishment for him. He’s out here to win and he’s out here to compete. The stability in his right leg looks a little bit improved.

“You’re going to see a lot of that OSU orange and black on the golf course and for good reason, we’re right near Stillwater. I think that with his attitude and his skill level, he’s just gotta get through this adversity he’s dealing with and find some solid ground and start shooting some consistent scores. Once that happens, I think you’ll start to see him turn the corner.”
Begay on the Netflix series ‘Basketball or Nothing’ with Fowler:
“We were both executive producers in that series which focused on the Chinle High School (AZ) Wildcats and followed them for a season, chronicling different aspects of the community and their attempt to win a state championship. He (Fowler) really cares deeply about Indian Country, wants to know more, wants to learn more. His grandma speaks fluent Navajo and has done what she can to teach him the history and traditions of his ancestral roots.”
