VERONA — The Notah Begay III Challenge, a major fundraiser for the Notah Begay Foundation, won’t be taking place at Turning Stone Casino Resort this year.
In its place is the inaugural Notah Begay III Invitational, which will take place on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
“The NB3 Foundation decided to use a new format this year.” said Oneida Indian Nation vice president of communications Joel Barkin in an email today.
The new event is for amateur golfers with a USGA handicap score of 24 or less and will include a dinner appearance by Tiger Woods.
The Invitational will feature a 36-hole, four-person team championship at the Atunyote Golf Club.
It is limited to the first 20 teams that pay the $10,000 registration fee.
According to information on foundation’s Web site, the fee also includes practice rounds, a pair of receptions and a dinner ceremony, gift bags, preferred room rates on guest packages at the casino, round trip airport transfers and transportation.
The NB3 Invitational will tee off at 10 a.m. on both days.
The first day will conclude with a cocktail reception and dinner hosted by Begay at the TS Steakhouse.
The second day of play will be followed by an awards dinner at the Shenendoah Clubhouse hosted by Begay and his longtime friend Woods.
