No. 9 Mavericks down Skyhawks in Four; Heather Danny (Navajo) Records 32 Assists for FLC

DURANGO, Colo. – November 6, 2014 – The Fort Lewis College volleyball team was held to 37 kills and a .106 hitting percentage in a 3-1 loss to ninth-ranked Colorado Mesa University Thursday night at Whalen Gymnasium.

After dropping the first two sets 25-8 and 25-20, the Skyhawks came back to earn a 27-25 win before CMU closed the match with a 25-16 win in set four.

Heather Danny (Navajo) recorded 32 of the Skyhawks 37 assists. She added four blocks and assisted on three. Madi Bickle recorded a match high five blocks to go with her eight assists. Ashley Wells led FLC offensively with nine kills and defensively with 16 digs and four block assists. Ally Dell’Amico posted three aces, 14 digs and a kill.

Three Mavericks recorded double-digit kills with Abby Ney and Melissa Hess notching 15 apiece.

Fort Lewis (7-18, 4-13 RMAC) will play their final match of the season Saturday night at Adams State University. First serve goes out at 7 p.m.
