North Dakota State’s Brittany Brownotter (Standing Rock Sioux) 1st Overall at UND Ron Pynn Classic

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State women’s cross country team won its fifth consecutive team title at the UND Ron Pynn Classic on Saturday morning, posting a perfect team score in the process.

NDSU had the top seven finishers in the race, helping the Bison to a 15-50 victory over North Dakota. Sophomore Brittany Brownotter captured the individual crown in a time of 17:45.9 for the five-kilometer course. It was her second straight UND Ron Pynn Classic title after also taking first last year.

Bison senior Taylor Janssen was the runner-up in 17:53.5. Sophomore Emma Kusch Dahle placed third in 17:56.0, freshman Melina Kuerschner took fourth in 18:11.6, and sophomore Kayla Huhnerkoch finished fifth in 18:30.6.

Kusch Dahle, Kuerschner and Huhnerkoch all recorded personal-best 5k times.

NDSU also had sophomore Annika Rotvold in sixth place at 18:36.8 and freshman Ashley Perez in seventh at 18:44.9.

NDSU has won the team title at this meet each year since 2012. Saturday was the third individual championship of Brownotter’s cross country career.

The Bison will race next at the Summit League Championships in Macomb, Ill., on Oct. 29.
