OCU Stars post second in the men’s university run at Missouri Stampede; Wahpehpah-Harris Finishes 34th (Kickapoo)

OCU, ranked No. 1 in NAIA men’s cross country, finished ahead of fifth-place Tulsa, ranked 18th in NCAA Division I. OCU captured its second consecutive meet victory to take back-to-back events for the first time in its women’s program history at the Missouri Southern Stampede at the Tom Rutledge cross country course..

Oklahoma, ranked 18th in the NCAA, sat atop the men’s team standings, while host Missouri Southern, ranked 14th in NCAA Division II, finished third. Conditions at the start of the race included 76-degree temperatures with 90 percent humidity.

“I was very pleased with both teams today,” OCU coach Conor Holt said. “Two of the boys that are typically in our top five had rough days with being a little under the weather. Our team average was 25:16, which is very good for this early in the season. Overall, looking forward now to the next few weeks of training.”

OCU’s Mackenzie Wahpehpah-Harris (Kickapoo Tribe) finished 34th overall with a time of 26:20.85.
