(Muskogee, OK) – The Oklahoma Native All State Association (ONASA) announced the 2017 girls and boys basketball teams for the Native All-State games. Twenty girls and boys athletes have been invited to participate in the ONASA event which will take place at Bacone College on June 16th and 17th.
ONASA staff member, Patrick Moore, Jr., said “In only our second year as an association, the Oklahoma Native All-State Association received over 150 nominations for the girls and boys basketball teams. Our selection committee did a great job coming up with 40 exceptional individuals for this years teams.
We are thoroughly pleased with the caliber of student athletes that have been selected to represent their tribes, communities, schools and all of Indian country across the state.”
Players could only be nominated by their head high school basketball coach, or an AAU coach as well. Nominations forms and notifications went out the week after the final OSSAA State Championship basketball game to all the coaches and coaching message boards.
The basketball games will be played on June 17th at 3:00 PM CST for the Girls and 5:00 PM CST for the Boys. The games will be live-streamed by Bacone College. Their will be a banquet the day before on June 16th, tickets for the banquet will be for sale soon as well as the announcement of this year’s guest speaker.
