Oklahoma State’s Stailee Heard (Seneca/Creek/Seminole) Named Big 12 Freshman of the Week

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s Stailee Heard was named the season’s first Big 12 Freshman of the Week it was announced today by the league office.

In three games, Heard shot 71 percent from the floor, connecting on 22 of her 31 shot attempts. The Sapulpa, Okla., native averaged 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

The 5-11 guard finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in OSU’s opener against SIUE on Nov. 6 to become the first Cowgirl freshman to register a double-double in her debut since Cheri Westervelt on Dec. 1, 1993. Heard also tallied four assists and one block in the victory over the Cougars.

Against New Orleans, Heard knocked down seven of her eight shots from the floor en route to a team-high 15 points to go along with five rebounds and an assist.

Heard closed out the week with a 17-point, three-rebound performance on Sunday at now-No. 5 Colorado. Heard hit seven of her 11 shots from the floor, including a 3-of-4 effort from beyond the arc, and had the first two steals of her career as well as an assist.

She becomes the first Cowgirl freshman to take home a weekly award since February 2021.
