OSU Freshman Lexy Keys (Cherokee) added 10 Points for Cowgirls who Fall to Tulsa, 69-62

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team fell to 3-2 on the year with a 69-62 loss to Tulsa despite a furious rally in the fourth quarter on Sunday afternoon inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Tulsa (1-0) used a 10-0 spurt to take a 26-13 lead with a minute to go in the first before the Cowgirls closed with the final four points of the period. The Golden Hurricane connected on 10 of their 16 shots, including a 4-of-7 effort from the 3-point line to lead 26-17 at the break.

In the second, the Cowgirls began to chip away, using an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 33-29 before TU answered with the next four and took a 39-31 lead into the halftime locker room.

OSU started with the first four of the second half before Tulsa extended back to a double-digit margin at 51-39 with under two minutes to go in the third. The Golden Hurricane led 57-41 through three quarters.

The Cowgirls implemented full-court pressure and turned it into a 15-0 run to start the fourth, cutting the deficit to one. Tulsa scored its first points of the quarter with 2:23 to go and hit another trey a minute later to extend back to a five-point margin.

Senior Natasha Mack finished with her second consecutive double-double, tallying 17 points and 16 boards, while junior Ja’Mee Asberry finished with a game-high 20 points. Freshman Lexy Keys (Cherokee) added 10 points.

The Cowgirls will get conference play underway on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. contest in Norman against Oklahoma.
