Seth Youngblood (Cherokee Nation) Named Heartland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

UAFS sophomore Seth Youngblood (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) has been named the Heartland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his performance during the Lions’ wins this past week.

Youngblood, a 6-foot-1 guard from Roland, Okla., averaged 25 points per game during the Lions’ two wins against Newman and Oklahoma Christian.

He shot 58 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range and was perfect from the free-throw line. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds per game.

Youngblood erupted for 29 points and made five of the Lions’ 17 3-pointers against Oklahoma Christian.

UAFS has now won two games in a row, and the Lions (10-8, 6-4) are only two games out of first place in the conference. The Lions will host the University of Texas of the Permian Basin Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Stubblefield Center and will finish their four-game homestand at 3 p.m. against St. Edward’s at the Stubblefield Center.
