Riley Holsinger (Nez Perce) Wins Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Week

Costa Mesa, Calif.- Riley Holsinger (Nez Perce Tribe) named GSAC Player of the Week as she led the Lions to a 3-0 record on the week, pushing Vanguard to a 9-3 standing on the season. Her averages for the week were 24.7 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 41.2% from the field.

Holsinger scored 74 points, grabbed 25 rebounds, handed out seven assists, recorded six steals, and had three blocks. She shot 21-for-51  from the field, including three made 3-point shots, and was 29-for-33 at the line.

This is Holsinger’s first award for GSAC Player of the Week during his Lions career and the first sweep of the weekly awards for Vanguard men’s and women’s basketball since January 2013.

Against University of Victoria (BC), Holsinger recorded 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks while making 7-8 attempts from the free throw line. In the game against Evangel (MO) she had 24 points, 8 rebounds, two steals and a block while making 87% of her shots from the charity stripe. In the teams’ second victory over Bethesda this season, Holsinger recorded her fourth double-double this year with 30 points and 11 rebounds. She also shot a season high 17 free throws, connecting successfully on 15 of them.

Currently, she has season averages of 21.9 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2.2 spg, and 1.2 bpg.
