The second indoor meet of the season was a successful one for the Cliff as another Charger qualified for nationals and a school record fell to the wayside. Mitchell Schleis punched his ticket to nationals with a provisional qualifying time of 2:33.34 and a fourth place finish in the 1,000m, while Robert Iron Shell won the 400m in a school record time of 50.02.
Schleis, who just missed setting a school record in the 1,000m, also finished fourth in the mile, completing it in 4:33.87. Raheem Cowan (triple jump) and the BC 4x400m relay team each took home titles, remaining undefeated on the season. Cowan produced a leap of 14.45m in the triple, while the 4×400 team of Rusty Muncy, Joe Roden, Iron Shell and Cowan clocked a 3:23.54. Cowan also notched a third place finish in the long jump, going 6.36m and a fourth place finish in the 200m (22.96). Muncy finished second in the open 400m (50.78), while Roden was fourth (51.16) and Alan Gerdes was fifth (51.46). Kyle Lorenzen was fourth in the 600m with a time of 1:24.03, while Muncy was fifth in the 55m with a 6.55. Matt Harshman was fifth in the long jump with a best of 6.16m, while Sean Roberts was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 14.17m.
The women’s program was led by Nisha Hull’s fourth place finsh in the 600m and Gina Sementa’s fifth place finish in the 55m dash. Hull clocked a 1:43.30, while Sementa crossed the finish line in 7.67 seconds.
