Robert Iron Shell (Sioux) Won both the 200m and the 400m at the Wildcat Classic; Sets New Meet Record in 200m

(Wayne, Nebraska) The BC men’s track team picked up where it left off and opened the outdoor season in record-setting fashion at the Wildcat Classic, hosted by Wayne State.  The Chargers broke three meet records and also established a pair of school bests.

Rusty Muncy set a meet record in the 100m and hit the ‘A’ qualifying standard for nationals with a time of 10.65.  Muncy was one of four Chargers to punch their ticket to outdoor nationals in the first meet of season.  Raheem Cowan won the triple jump, setting a new meet record and qualifying for nationals (15.51m), while Robert Iron Shell (RoseBud Sioux) won both the 200m and the 400m.  His time of 21.65 in the 200 set a new meet standard and also hit the ‘B’ standard for nationals.  In the 400, his clocking of 48.56 just missed the ‘B’ standard.  Muncy, Cowan and Iron Shell teamed up with Frank Wallace to set a new school record with a time of 41.31 in the 4x100m and they also qualified for nationals.  Mitchell Schleis set the Cliff’s other school record at Wayne, clocking a personal record of 4:04.25 and finishing fourth in the 1,500m.  Additionally, Adam Drieling won the javelin with a best toss of 54.69m (179-05), while the 4x400m relay team of Muncy, Joe Roden, Alan Gerdes and Kyle Lorenzen finished in a time of 3:19.70.  Cowan was third in the open 400 (49.11) and Muncy was third in the 200 (21.76).
