Sacromento Kings Honor Olympic Gold Medalist Billy Mills

In honor of Native American Night at Sleep Train Arena, the Sacramento Kings honored 1964 Olympic legend, and Native American, Billy Mills in a halftime ceremony.

Mills completed what is considered one of the greatest upsets in Olympic history, winning the 10,000 meter gold medal as a member of the U.S. Track and Field Team.

Mills also held a pregame Q&A with fans.

Sacramento trimmed Brooklyn’s 23-point lead to two in the fourth quarter, but the Nets held on for a 103-100 victory.

Brooklyn came out firing on all cylinders on Wednesday night inside Sleep Train Arena, notching a Kings opponent-high 38 points in the paint en route to 16-point halftime lead. However, a 16-6 run midway through the fourth quarter by the Kings cut the deficit to six. Ultimately, seeing the game get as close as two points with 1:31 remaining in regulation.

Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins combined for 27 points during the fourth quarter run, in which the Kings outscored the Nets 31-21. The duo nearly helped Sacramento complete the 23-point comeback, but Brooklyn’s Joe Johnson nailed a clutch three-pointer with 1:10 to play to put the game away.
