Senior forward CooXooEii Black (Northern Arapaho) scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as the Colorado College men’s basketball team pulled away for a convincing 77-54 victory over California Lutheran University on Saturday night at Reid Arena.
Black connected on seven of 11 field-goal attempts, including his first three-pointer of the season during a pivotal outburst early in the second half.
After the Kingsmen cut CC’s 12-point halftime lead to 32-26, Black scored eight consecutive points to stretch the Tigers’ advantage back to 14.
Colorado College extended its lead to 46-26 when DeAnte’ Dennis scored with 13:06 to play, and CLU never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Junior guard JJ Woods connected on four of five shots from behind the arc and finished with a career-high 13 points.
The Kingsmen led by as many as four during the opening minutes and took a 16-15 lead after Logan McCullough drained a three pointer with 8:50 to play before the break.
The Tigers began to seize control of the game on the strength of an 11-0 run that was capped by a three-pointer from Woods.
