Sequoia Wheeler (Nez Perce) leads Lions offensively with 25 points but Fall in Cascade Conference Opener

LA GRANDE – The Multnomah University women’s basketball team fell in the opening round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament presented by U.S. Bank against top-seeded Eastern Oregon, losing 91-62 on Tuesday.

GAME SUMMARY:

  • Multnomah came out strong in the first quarter of action, staying right along with the ninth-ranked Mountaineers as the quarter ended 20-19 in favor of Eastern.
  • EOU opened up in the second quarter, scoring 33 points to pull ahead and take a 53-36 advantage into the break.
  • Multnomah, who shot 37 percent on the night, struggled to score out of halftime as they put up 10 points while Eastern increased their lead.

KEY PERFORMERS:

  • Sequoia Wheeler (Nez Perce Tribe) led the Lions offensively with 25 points while Bethany George added 14 points and Kayla Alvarez tallied eight points.
