Sequoia Wheeler (Nez Perce) led the Lions with 14 points in 59-57 win over Northwest Christian University

PORTLAND – An explosive fourth quarter led the Multnomah University women’s basketball team to a 59-57 win over Northwest Christian University on Saturday night on Jim Skagen Court.

GAME SUMMARY:

  • Multnomah jumped ahead in the first quarter, scoring 17 points in the first quarter.
  • NCU fought back, scoring 10 straight points to end the second quarter and head into the break tied 27-27.
  • The Beacons added to their lead in the third quarter, going up by as much as 12 over the Lions.
  • In the fourth, MU scored 13 straight points to take a 51-48 lead midway through the quarter.
  • Tied 57-57, Erykah Campbell knocked down two free throws with four seconds to play to seal the win for Multnomah.

KEY PERFORMERS:

  • Sequoia Wheeler (Nez Perce) led the Lions with 14 points followed by Bethany George with 11 points.
  • Campbell and Woods each finished with eight points while Campbell collected 14 boards on the night. Paris Sanders added seven points and seven rebounds and Rachelle Tau also contributed seen points.
  • For NCU, Morgan McKinney finished the game with 14 points and Kaylynn Bush finished with 13 points.
