Four UAFS men’s basketball players have received Heartland Conference honors for their performances during this past regular season.
Sophomore Seth Youngblood (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) was named First Team All-Conference, junior forward Kenny Martin was named Second Team All-Conference and Defensive Player of the Year, sophomore Alex Cooper was named Honorable Mention All-Conference and freshman DaVaunta Thomas was named Freshman of the Year.
Youngblood, a 6-foot-1 guard, led the Lions in scoring with 17.3 points per game and averaged four rebounds, two assists and one steal per game. He scored a career-high and school-record 48 points against defending national champion University of Central Missouri.
He was fourth in the conference in scoring with 485 points and fifth in points per game with 17.3 points per game. He led the conference with 85 3-pointers and was fourth in 3-point field-goal percentage with a .431 average.
Martin, a 6-10 forward from Tucson, Ariz., was fourth on the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 9.1 rebounds per game. He led the team in blocks with 61.
He was second in the conference in rebounding with 256 rebounds and 9.1 rebounds per game. He led the conference in blocked shots with
61 and blocked shots per game with 2.2 blocked shots per game.
Cooper, a 6-1 guard from Dallas, Texas, was the second-leading scorer on the team with 13.1 points per game and averaged 3.7 rebounds per game. He led the team with 138 assists and 4.9 assists per game. He averaged one steal per game.
He tied for first in the conference with 138 assists and was second in assists per game with 4.9 assists. He led the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio with 2-to-1 ratio.
Thomas, a 6-5 guard from Tulsa, Okla., was the second-leading scorer on the team with 13.1 points per game and averaged 3.7 rebounds per game. He averaged two assists per game and one steal per game.
