Atlanta, Ga. – Shantashia John (MBCI) was tabbed CCS Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season on Monday. The freshman sensation continues to shine in her first season for the Green and Gold, leading the Blazers to a 2-1 record over the past week.
John, one of the nation’s top scorers, averaged 19 points per game over the three-game stretch. In Tuesday’s 72-62 win over Huntingdon, she poured in a game-high 19 points to go along with six assists in 40 minutes.
John finished with 15 points in the Blazers’ lone loss of the week before posting 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a 69-63 road win over Maryville on Saturday. On the season, John is averaging 22.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 40% (29-72) from beyond the arc.
