ATLANTA, Ga. – Shantashia John (Mississippi Choctaw) of the Belhaven Women’s Basketball team has been named both the Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week in the Collegiate Conference of the South on Monday.
John was dominant once again in the Blazers’ two wins over the past week as Belhaven remains unbeaten on the early season.
In the Blazers’ 72-58 win over Southeastern Baptist, John scored a game-high 27 points across just 19 minutes of action. She shot a stunning 9-11 from the field and 3-3 from beyond the arc while also showing her prowess on the defensive end racking up five steals.
The Belhaven newcomer then added to her impressive start with the Green and Gold by providing a game-high 27 points on Saturday as the Blazers took down former conference foe Ozarks in the first road test of the season.
