(Tulsa, Oklahoma) – Two of the worst losing streaks in the WNBA came head to head in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sunday with the Atlanta Dream ending their six game losing streak while the Tulsa Shock continued theirs to nine after a 98-90 win by the Dream.
Head coach Michael Cooper of Atlanta said, “I thought it was a very difficult game for both teams, I think both teams are struggling at this point in time in the season. I thought what we did, was that our defense was a little bit better, we have been giving up over a 100 points our last four or five games so it was good that our defense stepped up and kind of contained them a little bit.”
The Dream where led by Angel McCoughtry and Damiris Dantas who both had (23) and (18) points respectively.
The game was billed as Native American Heritage night by the Tulsa Shock with Indian Country’s own Shoni Schimmel making her last appearance to the Sooner state as the Tulsa Shock will move to the Dallas, Texas area for the 2016 season.
Despite playing only a handful of minutes in the 1st half, Shoni came out in the 2nd half and quickly added 9 points for the Dream to move her total to 13 for the game which is the highest she has scored this season.
After the game Shoni said, “It was a great team win for us, for us to come out there and be aggressive, it worked out for us. To get back on the winning track that’s what we are gonna take and run with the next few games. Things are a lot easier just be able to get out there and get some shot up there.”
