LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Utah State women’s basketball (5-11, 0-6 MW) lost, 86-68, to UNLV (13-4, 5-1 MW) inside the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday.
UNLV held a 35-22 lead with 3:20 remaining in the second quarter, but the Aggies closed out the stanza with a 9-2 run to make it a six-point game at 37-31 at the half.
USU made it a five-point game at 45-40 following a layup from junior guard Shyla Latone (Zuni Pueblo) with 7:45 remaining in the third quarter. However, the Lady Rebels closed out the quarter on a 17-7 run to hold a 62-47 lead at the end of the period. UNLV maintained the double-figure advantage in the final stanza to win it, 86-68.
Latone lead the Aggies with a season-high 26 points. Junior guard/forward Adryana Quezada posted her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard/forward E’Lease Stafford (Navajo) also finished the day in double figures with 12 points.
Utah State shot 39.1 percent (27-of-69) from the field, 13.6 percent (3-of-22) from behind the arc and 64.7 percent (11-of-17) at the free throw line. UNLV shot 54.0 percent (34-of-63) from the floor, 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from behind the 3-point line and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) at the free throw line.
