STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to and end with a 75-66 loss on Saturday afternoon in front of 3,390 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls fell to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in Big 12 play. The Jayhawks moved to 11-3 and 1-2.
OSU struggled to get on track offensively in the contest shooting just 36 percent from the floor, including a 20 percent clip from beyond the arc.
The Cowgirls scored the opening basket of the contest before Kansas scored the next seven. The Jayhawks pushed the margin to eight at 18-10 with two minutes to go in the quarter.
OSU trailed by eight with three minutes to go in the second before using a 10-2 run to tie the contest at the 4:45 mark. The Cowgirls would get an Alexia Smith layup with 20 seconds remaining in the frame to take a 30-29 lead at the half.
An 11-3 run to start the second half for OSU put the Cowgirls in front 41-32 and forced a Jayhawk timeout. KU would chip away and get within three at 46-43 before OSU moved the margin back to seven with two minutes to go. The Jayhawks scored the final eight points of the frame to take a 51-50 lead into the final 10 minutes.
After Kansas built the lead to nine at 57-66 with less than three minutes to go, the Cowgirls would cut the deficit to five but could get no closer.
Stailee Heard would log her fifth double-double of the year, finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
