STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team extended its win streak to three, defeating Texas State 67-52 Saturday afternoon in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls improve to 5-3 on the season with the win, while remaining unbeaten at home at 5-0. They’ll conclude a four-game homestand when they host Southern Illinois on Sunday, December 17.
Stailee Heard led all scorers with 18 points on 9-12 shooting, putting her in double-figure scoring in seven of eight games to begin her collegiate career. Anna Gret Asi added 12 points and five rebounds while Quincy Noble and Rylee Langerman each scored 10.
Oklahoma State scored the first nine points of the game, getting baskets from four different players. The teams would play nearly even to close the first quarter, with the Cowgirls leading 18-10.
The second quarter would be all Texas State, with the Bobcats holding OSU scoreless for the first half of the period. The Cowgirls were held to just seven points in the quarter as the teams went into the half tied at 25.
In the third, Oklahoma State found its rhythm on offense, going on a 17-3 run to open the quarter. The Cowgirls outscored Texas State 24-10 in the period while shooting 75% from the field, taking a 14-point lead to the final frame.
The fourth quarter consisted of back-and-forth baskets from each team, while OSU maintained its double-figure advantage. The Cowgirls got eight points from Langerman in the final frame, closing out the win 67-52.
Oklahoma State out-rebounded the Bobcats 33-23 in the win and shot 49% from the field despite shooting only 25% from three. The Cowgirls also outscored Texas State by 14 points in the paint and never trailed in the game.
