Takoda Dunfield (Cree/Metis) First Recruit for the Grande Prairie Regional College 2021-22 Men’s Volleyball team

Recruitment season has kicked off for the 2021-22 Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves Men’s Volleyball team. Head Coach, Sam Tu’ivai is excited to add his first recruit to the roster.

Serving as the first new recruit to join the team is Takoda Dunfield.

Hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Dunfield is looking forward to furthering his volleyball career with the Wolves, and what the next season has in store. “I chose GPRC because I see a winning culture developing and I want to be a part of it under the leadership of a great coach. 

Dunfield has already had quite an impressive career on the court having played Wolves Club Volleyball since 2016 before joining the SPVC in 2020, representing Team Alberta in 2020 at the North Arctic Winter Games, and playing in the North American Indigenous Games for U19 Team Alberta. 

In his upcoming rookie season, Dunfield is looking forward to opportunity ahead. “As a proud Cree/Metis athlete, I am most excited about having the opportunity to play college level volleyball in my home territory.” 

Head Coach, Sam Tu’ivai is thrilled to add Dunfield to the roster. “Takoda is quiet but works hard at everything he does. He is eager to learn and willing to take on any challenge. Takoda will fit in well with our current team dynamic as we strive to achieve success academically and athletically together. Our coaching staff are looking forward to working with Takoda, and on behalf of us and the rest of the team, we welcome Takoda to the Wolves program. Once a wolf, always a wolf.”
