Tatum Lafrance (Mohawk) Leads SUNY Canton women’s volleyball with 10 Kills in sweep of Elmira College

Oswego, NY – The SUNY Canton women’s volleyball team swept Elmira College (25-15, 26-24, 25-21) behind 10 kills from Tatum Lafrance (Mohawk) on Friday evening to open play at the Oswego State Tournament. The win marked the first collegiate victory for Head Coach Caitlin Grimshaw.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lafrance struck for a match-best 10 kills hitting .333 (10-3-21), while adding 12 digs. Brynna Harris posted eight kills and Marissa Ixtlahuac totaled seven kills and two block assists.
  • Jenna Roat was stellar tallying match-highs of 16 digs and six service aces to go with four assists. Sydney Uthe chipped in eight digs, while Ashton Houppert dished out a match-best 21 assists to go with eight digs.
  • SUNY Canton had 10 or more kills in every set as they hit .227 for the match (34-14-88). Meanwhile, Elmira had 10 kills just once over three sets finishing with a .117 hitting percentage (25-14-94).
  • The Roos were strong from the service line finishing with more than twice as many aces than their counterpart (11-5).
