Tisha Phillips (Nez Perce Tribe) Named EWU’s Scholar-Athlete of the Month for January

CHENEY, Wash. – Ssenior guard Tisha Phillips has been selected by the Eastern Washington University Athletics Department as its Scholar-Athletes of the Month for January.

Phillips, a Lapwai, Idaho native and a 2012 graduate from Lewiston High School had a career-high of 26 points scored against Montana on Jan. 26, which helped the Eagles also sweep Montana for the first time since the 1979-80 season. Phillips went 8-for-11 in field goals and only missed one three pointer, going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc against the Grizzlies.

In five games in the month of January, Phillips scored in double digits and scored 20 or more in three of those games. She averaged 16.3 points per game with also 2.9 assists and rebounds per game. She also recorded four steals in back-to-back games against Montana and Idaho State. With her help, the Eagles are currently in fourth place in the Big Sky standings with a 6-3 league record, 11-9 overall.
