10. ESPN to produce documentary on Hopi High School Boys Cross Country Teams that will air in 2016
The Hopi Cross Country had a documentary made by ESPN that aired on ESPN Sportscenter. The Hopi Cross country team was highlighted for their then 26th straight cross country state championships in Arizona. The Hopi team as since extended that to 27.

9. Nike N7 Releases its Spring 2016 Collection: “Move your Generation” 
Nike N7 released it’s spring collection back in march that featured famous Native American athletes Jude Schimmel and Lyle Thompson as part of the collection.

8. Iroquois Nationals Announce 2016 U-19 World Field Lacrosse Championships Roster
The Iroquois Nationals  announced the Final Roster of 27 players for the 2016 Federation of International Lacrosse’s U-19 World Field Lacrosse Championship. The Iroquois would win the Bronze Medal over Team Australia.

7. Shoni Schimmel has been traded to the New York Liberty

The Seventh biggest story on NDNSPORTS.COm was when the New York Liberty acquired All-Star point guard Shoni Schimmel from the Atlanta Dream for a 2017 second-round draft pick. Schimmel, the eighth pick in the 2014 draft, has made the All-Star team in each of her first two seasons in the WNBA. She’s averaged 8.0 points, 3.4 assists and 1.5 3-pointers.

6. Native American Athletes in the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s March Madness Tournament
This year was the most ever in the NCAA tournament for Native American men and we hope that trend continues to grow as 2017 comes around.  Just over 7,000 people read this story.
