MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team fell to Northern Colorado, 74-53, on Saturday afternoon. The Bears (12-6, 5-2 BSC) pulled away late as the Vandals (5-13, 1-6 BSC) fell at home.
THE GAME
Neither team was able to get going early, as Idaho led just 4-0 at the first media timeout. Eventually, the Vandals pushed their lead out to 9-0 with 13:24 to play in the first, which would be their biggest lead of the game. However, UNC would fight back using four three-pointers in the final seven minutes of the half to eventually take a 26-22 lead heading into the break.
The Bears scored the first six points of the second half to push their lead to double digits, 32-22. Trevon Allen (Umatilla) and Vandals responded, drawing within four on six points by the senior. Again, UNC pushed its lead out to double digits, but a pair of free throws by Allen cut the lead to seven, 52-45, with 5:26 to play. From that point, Northern Colorado finished the game on a 22-8 run to win, 74-53.
Trevon Allen led the Vandals with 23 points, while Damen Thacker chipped in 12 points.
THE NOTES
Trevon Allen surpassed 20 points for the 10th time this season. It was his 14th time this year reaching double figures, and 45th time in his career.
Allen now has 1068 career points, moving him into 15th place on the Idaho all-time scoring list.
