Troy Trojans senior Caitlyn Ramirez (Seminole) was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

TROY, Alabama – Troy senior Caitlyn Ramirez (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma) was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Monday, the league announced.

The Shawnee, Okla., native averaged 21.5 points and 13 rebounds in leading Troy to wins over Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina last week. She has turned in eight double-doubles this season and has scored 12-plus points in 10 consecutive games. Ramirez recorded eight assists and six steals to go along with 80 percent shooting from the free throw line.

Ramirez scored 24 points in Troy’s 86-77 victory over Appalachian State on Thursday. She posted a team-high 14 rebounds with four assists and three steals. Ramirez followed that with 19 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday’s 78-66 defeat of Coastal Carolina. Ramirez leads the Sun Belt with 9.8 rebounds per game and is 10th with 13 points per contest on the season. She is eighth in the league with 1.8 steals per game.

Ramirez has been named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week twice this season; she previously won the award on Jan. 16.
