United Tribes Rob McClain Jr. (Mvskoke Creek) Named NJCAA All-American

United Tribes Technical College Men’s Basketball Player Rob McClain Jr. was named as an All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).  The 6’5 forward from Red Lake High School in Red Lake, MN was a sophomore this year for the Thunderbirds.  McClain led his team to the Region XIII Championship game by averaging 23.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.3 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game this season. He also had an astonishing 24 double doubles this season and 41 for his career.  The versatile McClain led the conference in many statistical categories including rebounding, steals, and blocks.  He was also the conferences second leading scorer and finished as the nations 7th leading scorer.  He led the nation in field goals made and defensive rebounds and ranked in the top ten in the nation in several statistical categories.

McClain had several huge games and set multiple school records along the way.  In a game against Region XIII champion Dakota County Tech he poured in 33 points and set a school record with an astonishing 25 rebounds.  Against perennial Region 9 powerhouse Gillette College he knocked down 7 three pointers on his way to a career high 40 points.  He leaves United Tribes as the schools all time leader in rebounds, steals, and blocks.  He was also a career 60.6% shooter from the field during his Thunderbird career.  

McClain Jr. is only the third All-American in the programs history and first since 2002.   Rob was born and raised in Red Lake, MN and is an enrolled member of the Muscogee Nation.
