UPDATE: Jacoby Ellsbury Doubtful to Return this Season

NEWS UPDATE

Manager Joe Girardi said Wednesday that Ellsbury (hamstring) is doubtful to return over the final few days of the season, MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reports.

With Ellsbury still not able to take part in any baseball activities while he misses his fifth straight game Wednesday, it appears the Yankees are content to shut him down the rest of the way. Although it seems unlikely that we’ll ever see Ellsbury return to the 32-homer, 39-steal level we saw from him with Boston in 2011, he’ll still likely warrant a high selection in fantasy drafts in 2015, even if his steal numbers predictably decline in his thirties. Ellsbury still managed to steal 39 bases in 44 attempts, while also providing moderate power production atop the order. His first season in New York concludes with a .271/.328/.419 batting line, 16 homers, 70 RBI and 39 stolen bases
