(New York) – Jacoby Ellsbury is not expected to return to the lineup on Monday as once expected. Yankee’s manager says that his right hamstring is still giving him trouble.
“He’s got some blood in there on the top of his hamstring,” the manager said. “I’m not sure when we’ll actually start some activities. I wouldn’t think it would be (Monday), but we’ll see.”
Despite his injury and only a few games left on the season, Ellsbury still wants to make it back to the lineup even if the Yankee’s become mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
Prior to his injury, Ellsbury was having a decent year in his first year with the Yankees. At the plate, he was hitting .269/.326/.411 slash with 154 hits, a team-leading 67 RBI and 93 strikeouts.
