OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference has announced that following a dominant week for the No. 15 Science & Arts men’s basketball team, senior guard Stephon Hall has been selected as the league’s player of the week for Jan. 31-Feb. 6.
A six-foot guard from Oklahoma City, Hall is the second USAO player to earn the SAC player of the week honor this season after Trenton Sandifer received the award for Nov. 22-28. Hall is earning his first career weekly accolade in his four-year career with the Dro.
Leading the Drovers to a 102-87 win over Texas Wesleyan on Jan. 31 and a 104-77 victory over Langston on Saturday, Hall averaged 15 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting and converted 88.9 percent of his foul shots. Hall finished also put together a strong floor game, tallying 14 assists to only one turnover to go with three steals.
In the win over the Rams, Hall finished with a double-double, scoring a game-high 25 points on 8-for-15 from the field, 2-of-5 from three and converted 7-for-8 from the charity stripe. Hall also recorded his third double-digit assist game as well as double-double of his career, turning in a season-high 10 assists while committing just one turnover to go with three steals.
Hall followed it up with a five-point performance against Langston, but did turn in a team-high four assists with no turnovers.
This season, Hall leads the SAC in assists with 103, averaging a league-best 4.7 apg. Hall also possesses the conference’s third-best assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.9 and sits just outside top 10 in scoring at 11th with 14.6 ppg.
