Wichita State’s Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler (Oglala Lakota) and Texas’ Kamaka Hepa (Inupiat) Teams Advance to NIT Final Four

(New York) – Indian country’s Isaiah Poor-Bear Chandler (Oglala Lakota), from Wichita State University and Kamaka Hepa (Inupiat), from the University of Texas, will be at Madison Square Garden in New York City next week as both of their teams advance to the semifinal of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).

Wichita State knocked off Indiana, 73-63, Tuesday night at Assembly Hall to earn their trip to New York.

WSU (22-14) is the first team in NIT history to reach Madison Square Garden with wins over each of the top-three seeds in its region. The win at No. 1 Indiana was preceded by road victories at No. 3 Furman and No. 2 Clemson.

The Shockers will face Lipscomb on Tuesday, Apr. 2 on ESPN

The University of Texas Men’s Basketball team won 68-55 against Colorado (23-13) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night at the Frank Erwin Center.

With the win, the Longhorns will face TCU on Tuesday, April 2 (8:30 p.m. CT, ESPN) at the historic Madison Square Garden.
