Zed Williams (Seneca Nation) and No. 7 UVA Hosts No. 4 Notre Dame Saturday on ESPNU

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia (5-1, 0-1 ACC) returns to ACC play when it hosts the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-1, 0-0 ACC) on Saturday at Klöckner Stadium. Faceoff is set for noon. UVa is ranked No. 7 in both the USILA coaches and Cascade/Maverik media polls. Notre Dame is No. 4 in both the coaches and media polls.

Live stats of the game will be available at VirginiaSports.com. There will be a live audio webcast available through Cavaliers Live at VirginiaSports.com for a subscription fee. John Freeman will bring the play-by-play and Doug Tarring will provide the analysis. ESPNU will televise the game live in HD with Eamon McAnaney calling the play-by-play and Matt Ward adding color analysis. There will be a web simulcast on WatchESPN.

9243955Saturday marks the ninth all-time meeting between the Cavaliers and Fighting Irish, and the second in ACC play after Notre Dame officially joined the conference July 1, 2013. UVa leads the all-time series 5-3, but has dropped the last two meetings. The first six games in the series were played in Charlottesville before the 2012 NCAA meeting in Chester, Pa., followed by UVa’s first-ever trip to Notre Dame in 2014.

Ryan Lukacovic leads UVa with 23 points on 12 goals and a team-high 11 assists. Zed Williams (Seneca Nation) has 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points. Greg Coholan has a team-best 14 goals, while Owen Van Arsdale rounds out the top scorers with 12 goals. Matt Barrett is saving 55.4 percent of shots between the pipes and is posting an 11.79 goals against average.
