WINNEBAGO, Neb, — Little Priest Tribal College sophomore Talia Paytiamo (Acoma Pueblo) has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Women’s DII Basketball Player of the Week, in results released today by the league office.
In two games vs Iowa Central and Southeastern, Paytiamo scored 51 points and racked up 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals and four blocks. She also knocked down eight 3-pointers. She scored a career high with 31 points in the loss to Southeastern.
The honor marks Talia’s second ICCAC Player of the Week award this season and the fourth for a member of the Little Priest women’s basketball program. This marks the first time in Little Priest history that a women’s basketball player has earned the honor twice in a season.
Over the past four games, Paytiamo has scored 102 points and is 5thin points per game in conference play averaging 16.3. She is currently averaging 15.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.9 apg, 2.5 spg and 1.0 bpg while shooting 40.9% from the field and 31.2% from the 3-point line.
Paytiamo crossed the 700-point mark last week and currently ranks No. 2 in school history with 707 points. She holds the school career record for most rebounds (358), steals (119), and blocks (62).
Little Priest stands 12-15 and 3-11 in ICCAC play entering the last week of conference action. The Warriors last home game is Wednesday, Feb 27 vs DMACC for Sophomore Night. Tip-off is at 5:30. They finish the season out Saturday, Mar 2 at Iowa Lakes.
