The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (19-11, 15-7 in ACCAC) closed out the regular season on Tuesday at Glendale Community College (9-21, 4-18).
- The No. 14 ranked Aztecs beat the Gauchos 79-58 as they started fast by outscoring Glendale 18-6 in the first quarter.
- The Aztecs had five players score in double figures and were led by freshman Haile Gleason (Navajo), who scored a career-high 22 points. She hit six 3-pointers in the game.
- Freshman Alyssa Perez (Marana HS) scored 15 points while sophomore Shauna Bribiescas(Navajo) posted 14 points.
- Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Navajo) finished with 11 points and fellow sophomore RyLeigh Long contributed with 10 points.
The Aztecs will be the No. 1 seed in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament. They will host No. 4 seed Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the semifinals next Tuesday, Mar. 5 at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
This is the first time in Pima basketball history that both the women’s and the men’s teams will be the No. 1 seed heading into the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament.
