TULSA, Okla. – The Summit League announced Thursday that Oral Roberts women’s basketball student-athlete Lakota Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre) was named to the All-Summit League First Team by the league office in voting by head coaches, sports information directors and select media members.
“We are so proud of both Lakota and Maya for being honored by the Summit League in this way,” Head Coach Misti Cussen said. “These individual awards are representative of a great team effort this season.”
A redshirt senior from Anadarko, Oklahoma, Beatty led ORU in scoring with 15 points per game and 436 total points in her final season. She is also one of the league leaders in overall field-goal percentage, averaging 44.2 percent. She also ranks sixth in the league in three-point shooting at 43.2 percent. She scored in double-digits in 21 of her 29 games played this season and recorded a career high 35 points at North Dakota on February 16 going 14-for-20 from the field. Beatty started in all 29 regular season games for the Golden Eagles.
Oral Roberts wrapped up the regular season with a 10-6 Summit League record placing them tied for third. The Golden Eagles open the 2019 Summit League Tournament Sunday as the No. 4 seed against No. 5 seed Western Illinois. ORU went 2-0 against the Leathernecks during the regular season. Tournament action begins with the quarterfinals on Saturday and Sunday before Monday’s semifinals as the entire tournament can be seen on ESPN+ and the WatchESPN App. The championship will tip Tuesday at 1 p.m. and air nationally on ESPNU.
