Sandy Cohen III (Oneida) Scores 21 Points as No. 4 Green Bay Comes Back to Beat No. 5 UIC; Advances to Tournament Semifinals in Detroit

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) — Using a 13-3 run to close the game, No. 4 Green Bay came back to beat No. 5 UIC 82-77 in the Quarterfinals of the 2019 Little Caesars Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship, advancing to the Semifinals next week in Detroit. The Phoenix (17-15) scored 47 points in the second half and had four players in double-figures, led by newly-named First Team All-League member Sandy Cohen III (Oneida Nation) with 21 points.

Green Bay will now face No. 1 seed Wright State next Monday (March 11) night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, for a chance to play in the tournament championship on Tuesday night. Monday night’s semifinal game will tip at 6 p.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPNU. 

Both teams shot well from the floor, with GB shooting 48.3 percent (28-58) and 55.6 percent (15-27) in the second half alone. Trevian Bell was the catalyst for Green Bay on the night, tying his career-high with 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field. JayQuan McCloud poured in 19 points and ShanQuan Hemphill added 12 points of his own to help GB get the home win.
