Chase Scanlan (Seneca) Picks Up Second-Straight Patriot League Rookie Honor

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland midfielder Chase Scanlan (Seneca Nation) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second time in as many weeks on Monday after scoring three goals to go with two assists last week at Duke University.

The freshman from Irving, New York, led the Greyhounds in both goals and points against the Blue Devils, bringing his 2019 totals to 18 goals, seven assists and 25 points through six games.

His 18 goals are tops amongst all NCAA Division I freshmen this season and his 25 points are the most by a freshman midfielder. Scanlan has tallied two or more points in all six of Loyola’s games this year, and he has three or more points in each of the last five. He also has four games with three or more goals scored thus far in 2019.

Scanlan and the Greyhounds return to the field on Saturday, March 16, when Loyola hosts the U.S. Naval Academy at 1 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex.
