HOUSTON — The Houston Astros have signed their third round pick, Michigan outfielder Jordan Brewer ( Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians), the team announced on Tuesday.
Brewer, 21, just completed his junior season with the Wolverines and had been named the Big Ten Player of the Year last season. He batted .343 with 52 RBIs, 12 home runs and a .403 on-base percentage, and he led Michigan with 24 multi-hit games in his only season with Michigan.
During the College World Series, Brewer batted .272 with seven RBIs and had a hit in nine of the 11 games.
So happy that the Astros signed another heavy hitter to their team. I expect to see him called up to the majors within the next year.
